This is a beautiful late 19th century solid oak student's writing desk bureau of the Arts & Crafts form. The bookcase stands on beautiful shaped feet over which are two shelves and rising over this is a single fitted drawer. This is flanked on either side by pull out lopers and rising over this is the cleated fall front of the bureau. The upper section of the bureau desk bookcase has two glazed doors with beautiful leaded light green circular bulls eye centres with beautiful leaded light surrounded in clear glass. There is a single fitted shelf behind the doors. Rising over this is a plain simple single shelf. The upper section and fall front are fitted with locks and the piece comes complete with a key. The bureau bookcase is a very attractive little piece, dating around 1890. It comes complete with its escutcheon and lock although we have no key for the drawer. The bookcase has a nice light oak finish. The bookcase measures a width of 29 inches, depth when open of 22 inches, depth when closed of 22 inches, stands a maximum height of 76 inches and has a height to the writing slope of 29 inches. This is a really nice piece of furniture. The interior is fitted with six pigeonholes.
